Senior Environment Officer - Mount Piper Power Station

About the role

Reporting to the Environment Leader and forming part of a small on-site Environment team, the Senior Environment Officer will play a lead role in relation to environmental projects and ongoing operational environmental compliance.

This is a permanent fulltime position located onsite at Mt Piper Power Station, just west of the Blue Mountains and Lithgow, NSW.

We have flexible working options available such as a condensed week and hybrid working locations.

More specifically, the Mount Piper Power Station Senior Environment Officer is to undertake the following activities:

  • Manage environmental investigations and compliance
  • Analyse, interpret and manage environmental monitoring data, providing meaningful environmental advice to internal stakeholders
  • Support the implementation of the Environmental Management System to ISO14001 standard
  • Engage with regulatory authorities and other stakeholders
  • Assist in the day to day management of environmental compliance with relevant licences and approvals
  • Undertake internal audits and inspections
  • Prepare compliance reports and presentations
  • Coordinate Modifications to approvals and variations to existing licences
  • Contractor management.

What we’re looking for

  • Tertiary qualifications at minimum Degree Level in Science, Environmental Science, Engineering, or related discipline
  • Previous experience in a Power Station, mining, consulting or similar environment/ heavy industrial setting
  • Experience in environmental monitoring and water management in a heavy industry setting including organisational representation to regulators, local governments and community groups
  • Ability to build relationships with stakeholders, such as residents, government officials, regulatory and licencing authorities
  • Experience writing capability, preparing environmental impact assessments and environmental management plans etc
  • Extensive knowledge of the regulatory framework applying to environmental and water management and development approvals.
