About Us

Globally, energy markets are in transition to a net zero future and the entities within these markets are transforming their underlying business models to ensure that they stay relevant, sustainable and profitable. As one of Australia’s largest energy providers, we are proud of our purpose to lead and accelerate the clean energy transformation for all.

Our ability to deliver on this Purpose will be dependent on our people. Join our Community Engagement team, where you’ll play a key role in helping EnergyAustralia secure and maintain our social license to operate. You’ll have the opportunity to make a direct impact by leading community engagement efforts at our major operational sites and driving programs that foster community support for new renewable energy and energy storage projects.

About the Role

We're looking for a dynamic individual to take on an exciting role engaging with the local community around two of our key power stations: the Mt Piper coal-fired power station and the Tallawarra Power Station. The role involves fostering strong relationships with the community while providing strategic communications support and leadership to both teams. You will play a key part in shaping how we communicate and collaborate with the surrounding areas, helping to drive positive impact. Your key responsibilites will include the following:

  • Developing ways in which the profile of Mt Piper, Tallawarra, and their role within the community can be improved and celebrated.
  • Delivering on-the-ground community engagement
  • Supporting the delivery of major new energy projects in NSW, including the Mt Piper Battery Energy Storage System, the Lake Lyell Pumped Hydro, and the Marulan Gas Fired Power Station.
  • Overseeing all community grants, sponsorship, and workplace outreach programs for Mt Piper and Tallawarra.
  • Key point of contact for the Lithgow Community Consultative Committee (CCC) and Tallawarra Community Liaison Group (CLG).
  • Overseeing community engagement around access and future use of the Tallawarra Lands Southern Superlot
  • Providing strategic stakeholder management advice, developing and delivering bespoke external stakeholder management strategies, identifying and managing complex community issues.
  • Leading the maintenance of deep and robust relationships with our neighbours and developing new relationships to support Mt Piper and Tallawarra’s ongoing operation.

Location: This role will be based at our Mt Piper Power Station at Portland, approximately 20km from Lithgow, NSW with occasional travel to our Tallawarra Power Station at Yallah, approximately 20km from Wollongong, NSW, and 15km from Shellharbour, NSW.

How can you support the Clean Energy Transition

To be successful in this role, you will ideally have the following:

  • Previous experience working in community engagement preferably within energy or large infrastructure projects
  • Experience in developing communications materials, planning of events, and risk and issue management
  • High level of interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate to a broad range of people as well as building strong trusted relationships
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to operate in a complex and fast paced environment
