About Yallourn
The Yallourn Power Station is a 1480Mw base load generating plant and is part of the diversified range of EnergyAustralia energy assets, supplying more than 22% of Victoria's electricity needs, more than eight percent of the National Electricity Market (NEM) and enough to supply around two million homes.
The Yallourn site is located approximately 130kms east of Melbourne, in an area renowned for natural beauty, access to Melbourne and a full range of modern services and infrastructure.
About the role
Reporting to the Corporate Environment Leader, and forming part of the Yallourn on-site leadership team, you will be responsible for the management and maintenance of initiatives that are designed to address critical environmental issues and improve sustainability both on-site and within the local community.
You will oversee all environmental management policies and procedures which minimise environmental risk including but not limited to: emissions monitoring and management, pollution prevention, land management and conservation, waste management, licencing agreements and statutory reporting. You will ensure that the Yallourn operation complies with environmental laws and regulations, maintaining detailed records of technical audits and environmental impact assessments, and writing reports for the appropriate regulatory authorities.
You will lead a small team in implementing measures and initiatives to which eliminate or reduce harm to the environment, making sure that the Yallourn business operations adopt environmental best-practice.
What are we seeking?
Due to the role requirements, we are seeking candidates with the following qualifications, skills and experience:
- Tertiary qualifications at minimum Degree Level in Science, Environmental Science, Engineering (Chemical) or related discipline/equivalent qualifications
- Substantial environmental experience in power stations or heavy industrial settings
- Experience in managing elements of environmental risk through an Environmental Management System. Experience in ISO 14001 would be highly regarded
- Substantial knowledge of analytical and diagnostic equipment and systems for environmental monitoring, testing, analysis and reporting
- Demonstrated people leadership and development experience.
